Roll of Fame Honoree – Kanji Montalvo
Sacramento
Mexican-American Bowling League
Gold Medallion
This next honoree is a personal favorite of
mine. I have been following this kid since his
junior bowling days. Here are some of his
accomplishments since he started bowling adult
leagues in 2000.
On April 6, 2002 during the PAB Summer League
Trios Tournament he rolled 11 strikes in a row
from the 2nd frame for a 279. On June
12, 2002 he rolled a 299 game and an 803
series. His first 300 game as an adult was
rolled on July 24. December 6th he rolled his
second 300 game. On December 23rd he rolled a
298 and 299 for an 822 series.
These scores continued into the year 2003. On
January 27th, he bowled another 299 game and an
813 series. On February 7th, bowling
in the Mexican-American league he had 11 strikes
in a row starting from the 1st frame
for a 297 game. Later that same night, bowling
the Nisei-American league he again had 11
strikes in a row, this time starting from the 2nd
game for a 290 game.
On April 11,
he bowled another 300 game and an 816 series
bowling the Nisei-American League.
Co-incidentally, on this same date, I bowled my
one and only 300 game in the Mexican-American
League so father and son bowled a 300 game on
the same night.
On March 5,
2004 he had his fourth 800, an 811. Sandwiched
in between all of this he had a 299 in
Bakersfield during their tournament in October
2004 and in January of this year had a second
299 at Pacific Bowl in Stockton during the Super
Bowl tournament held annually.
Needless to
say, Kanji has carried a 200 + average since his
initial summer league entry into adult league
bowling.
Congratulations to my favorite son Kanji
Montalvo a Gold Medallion Honoree
