Roll of Fame Honoree –
Jess Salazar
Gilroy
Mexican-American Bowling League

Gold Medallion
Jess Salazar
is admired throughout the Mexican-American
Bowling Tour not only as a terrific bowler but
equally as a terrific person. He can always be
counted to not only bowl in most
Mexican-American tournaments but to also
encourage and bring many of his fellow Gilroy
bowlers.
Jess has been
a 200+ average bowler for the last 20 years. He
has 10 sanctioned 300 games and 5 sanctioned 800
series. Tammy Lewis, a very good friend of Jess,
tells us that
many years ago, Jess was going for his 3000th,
hahaha... 300 game (well it just seemed like
3000). Goes to throw his final ball and leaves
the 5-7-10 (sour apple). It was so
hilarious for it to happen that he is still
harrassed about it to this day. A sour apple
is caused by a weak hit. She also tells us
that Jess is Jess. He’s the type of bowler that
many people respect because of who he is on and
off the lanes. He’s very calm when shooting
those kind of games and doesn’t let that kind of
stuff go to his head. It’s just another great
game for him and that’s what she respects about
him.
Having earned
970 points on the Mexican-American Bowling Tour,
Jess is the 2002/03 MAMBO Bowler of the year.
