Roll of Fame Honoree – Frank Castañeda
Gilroy
Mexican-American Bowling League

Gold Medallion
Frank
Castañeda has been bowling for only 10 years but
his accomplishments are those of a lifetime
bowler. He has been honored as a two-time
association singles champion, has one
association team championship, two city team
championships and two city singles championship
titles. . Frank also has two second place
finishes in city singles, doubles and team
championships.
Frank has also
won his leagues high average award four years in
a row and maintained a 200+ average for the last
five years and had a 300 game this year.
Besides his
bowling accomplishments, Frank has served as
league president and is the current league
president for the Gilroy Mexican-American
Bowling League. Frank was inspired when
attending his first MAMBO tournament at the
National Stadium in 1999 and worked hard ever
since to start the Gilroy Mexican-American
Bowling League. Something he will tell you was
not always easy or possible back then. He was
literally laughed at when he suggested the
Mexican-American League. After attending his
second MAMBO tournament in Las Vegas, he says
“his fire was lit again” and he was not going to
give up this time. Sure enough, thru hard work
and help from fellow bowlers and center
management, the Gilroy Mexican-American Bowling
league became a reality. It is a summer and
winter league.
His next goal
is to host a Mexican-American Tour tournament in
Gilroy. Something he says is like trying to put
5 pounds of frijoles into a one-pound bag. They
have a 10 lane bowling center but he is
determined to do it.
Frank
Castañeda is a Gold Medallion Honoree.
