Roll of Fame Honoree –
Aurora Leon
Sacramento Mexican-American Bowling League
Bronze Medallion
Not many
individuals can say they have bowled the same
league for the last 32 years and has also
supported Mexican-American tournaments for the
last 25 years. Aurora can. Tonight, Aurora Leon
is being inducted in the MAMBO Roll of Fame in
the Individual Bronze category.
She has won
team and individual trophies in the
Mexican-American league and currently carries a
161 average.
Aurora was a
member of one of the early Cinco De Mayo
tournament champions. Though she probably
doesn’t remember it, she took first place in the
women’s division with teammates, Isabel Matos,
Denise Hernandez, Margie Herrera and Nita
Zamora. This was in 1976. She has been a winner
ever since and just last year in Reno, took
First Place in the Mixed Doubles division of our
Annual MAMBO tournament. This year she also
cashed in the Stockton and Modesto tournaments.
But it’s not
just bowling. Aurora is a great person who is a
great dancer, even if she won’t dance with me.
She will be retiring from State service very
soon and will be golfing a lot more.
Congratulations to Aurora Leon!
