Big Al Oliva
is not just a DJ, though he is DJ’ing here
tonight. Al is a very serious bowler, carrying a
228 average into this year’s MAMBO tournament.
Al has always
been a 200 plus bowler it seems and was there in
the early years with Hank Molina, Manny Guzman
and Julio Perez. Although a terrific bowler, Al
still found time to help on the committees and
do some of the routine work that must be done
for a tournament to be successful.
Al has bowled
15 (279) games, 1 (289) game, 1 (298) game, 1
(299) game and seven 300 games, 3 of which were
sanctioned and 1 (800) series.
Al celebrated
the Big 5-0 last month and his wife Gloria had a
terrific party for him. No. He did not DJ his
own party.
Al Oliva Sr. is a Gold Medallion Honoree.
